Meeting Initiation

Meeting was called to order at 6:25pm by Chair Eli Hauser

Meeting Discussion

Chair Hauser stated the purpose of the meeting was for the Planning Board to vote as to their recommendations on Articles 1 and 2 being presented at Town Meeting regarding rezoning of South Main. He read each article.

Ms. Sloan expressed her opinion regarding the vote by stating in her opinion that the Planning Board’s vote is symbolic and she will support the vote with strong caution. The town will closely monitor any special permit requests and the entire process and will try to ensure that the excellent controls created by the planner are adhered to.

Mr. Cohen stated he felt the article was a good article. The town has a disproportionate amount of commercial development and this gives the town the desperate revenue it needs. He will vote in favor.

Mr. Schwartz agreed with Mr. Cohen and stated he intended to support the article.

Mr. Lauenstein is opposed to the article and is concerned with the character of the town, the rush to judgment and the environmental concerns.

Mr. Cohen moved that the Planning Board recommends to Special Town Meeting the approval of Article 1 as stated on the warrant. Mr. Schwartz seconded the motion. The Board voted 4-1 in favor.

Mr. Cohen moved that the Planning Board recommends to Special Town Meeting the approval of Article 2 as stated on the warrant. Mr. Schwartz seconded the motion. The Board voted 4-1 in favor.

Mr. Cohen moved to adjourn meeting at 6:35pm; Mr. Schwartz seconded the motion; passed unanimously.
